Bond English student Moe recently went to Aso, Kumamoto, to experience the beautiful nature spots there. Let’s hear her story!
On Friday, Moe and her father took a morning 1-hour flight on ANA, from Itami to Aso airport. They rented a car and drove to Tonashi no Soba Ya for a quick meal.

They then continued on to Daikanbo, the highest mountain peak in Aso (936 m) for a 360° stunning view.

After Daikanbo, they drove about 30-minutes to the famous Nabegataki Falls, a beautiful waterfall which allows visitors to walk under the falls. Look at the bottom-right, you can see Moe getting ready to walk behind the waterfall!

Moe wanted to have the feeling of getting soaking wet (びしょ濡れ), so she walked under the falls, about 1-m away from the wall of water, and she did indeed get soaked!

After the waterfall, they drove to Kurokawa Onsen, and stayed at Nanjouen. They bought day-bath (日帰り温泉) tickets for Kiyashiki Hotel, and Senomoto Kogen Hotel, the highest elevation onsen hotel in Kurokawa.

Next Moe went to Tateiwa Suigen, a natural water spring, and played in the river.

For their last night, they went to Ota onsen and stayed at Yamashinobu Hotel, which has their own rice field, used for the meals served at the hotel!

On day three as the grand finale, they visited the famous Kikuchi Keikoku, or Kikuchi Gorge in English, the name coming from the Kikuchi clan almost 900 years ago. This river is listed as one of the top 100 most scenic, beautiful water spots in all of Japan.

Great trip Moe!
