Bond English student Asuka recently had an amazing trip to the art islands of Naoshima and Shodoshima near Kagawa. Let’s hear about her incredible trip!
This was a 2-day, 1-night trip, so Asuka and her boyfriend left Osaka at 6:00am and went to Takamatsu, about a 3-hour drive!
After arriving in Takamatsu, they took a ferry to Naoshima, about a 45-minute ride.
After arriving at Naoshima port, they saw the pavilion, an interesting sculpture that you can walk inside:
Asuka and her boyfriend then rented bicycles, and saw some interesting art on the island. The pumpkin sculptures of Yayoi Kusama:
And the most artistic public bath in Japan:
I Love Yu (I♥湯) !!
And the Benesse Museum:
Naoshima is a fantastic place to visit, it is filled with art exhibits, and is also home to the Chichu Museum designed by Ando Tadao:
On their 2nd day, Asuka and her boyfriend took the Olive ferry to Shodoshima.
And went to Olive Park, a famous movie park featuring scenes from the Studio Jihbli movie 魔女の宅急便, English title being Kiki’s Delivery Service.

After the Movie Village, they visited Angel Road, a wonderful sand bar only visible at low tide (干潮) !!
After returning back to Takamatsu, they saw a fireworks display to celebrate the 35th-anniversary of the building of the Setto Ohashi bridge. With an incredible sunset as well:
