Bond English student Roku recently took an incredible trip to Italy, let’s hear about the epic voyage!
Roku and his wife took a 10pm Turkish Air flight from Kansai International Airport (Kanku) to Istanbul. About an 11-hour flight so they mostly slept.

After landing in Istanbul, they had time to have a brownie snack, but like many foreign desserts, it was too sweet!

After about a 3-hour layover in Istanbul, they flew 2-hours to Rome, arriving around 10:00 am.

They arrived in Rome to beautiful blue skies and high temperatures (最高気温) of about 35, but with almost no humidity (湿度), the dry heat felt good. They dropped their bags at the hotel, and met a cute retro photographer.

She took their picture, and edited it into a vintage newspaper print.

They also found these funny guys, all wearing similar clothes!

They took a short subway ride to Trevally Fountain.

And then walked about 30-minutes to see the Colosseum. To enter the Colosseum, a reservation is needed about a week in advance, so Roku had already booked it in Japan. The Colosseum is about 2,000 years old!

On Day 2 in Rome, they visited incredible Vatican Museum.

They saw the famous painting The School of Athens by Raphael Sanzio da Urbino featuring images of Plato, Pythagoras, Euclid, Socrates, Aristotle, and more.

And the spectacular Bramante Staircase.

They also had to visit the Spanish Steps, which were of course featured in the famous movie Roman Holiday starring Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn.

And they visited the Pantheon, also built around 2,000 years ago!

On Day 3, they went to the Mouth of Truth, which was also featured in the film Roman Holiday.

And then took a stylish train to Florence!

Arriving at the hotel with a beautiful welcome fruit basket!

Then to visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa!

And speaking of stylish, a few Italian guys approached Roku, and complimented him (褒め言葉) on his fashion. Wow the Japanese are very well-dressed people! Where do you usually shop Roku??

Day 4 in Florence, and what a classic cityscape!

They saw the painting Birth of Venus at the Uffizi Gallery.

And Roku got slapped by a statue (像)! Can you believe it?? The statue was probably jealous of Roku’s fashion.

They also saw the Statue of David.

And then went to one of the Ferrari Museums!

And finally had dinner at the Buca Mario restaurant.

Day 5, the massive explosion of art, style, and fashion continued! They visited the incredible book store + movie theater Cinema Teatro Odeon. This shop is a combination book store and movie theater all in one shop!!

Can you see the balcony seats?

And the iconic Rialto Bridge.

Their wedding photos were taken by Francesca, thank you Francesca!

And another Vogue-esque magazine shot by the water.

Incredible trip Roku, more to come!
