Last weekend, Bond English student Masaya went to Okinawa, and in addition to snorkeling and swimming in the crystal blue ocean, he made custom hand-painted Nike sneakers in Naha. Let’s hear this creative story!
Masaya searched for interesting activities to do in Naha, and found the Kotobuki Paint shop. You can bring any of your shoes or sneakers to the shop, and you can paint them in any custom design of your choice!

Masaya started the process by buying some Nikes, and booking an appointment at Kotobuki Paint.
After arriving at the shop, the first step is to tape the sneakers, covering the areas of the shoe you don’t want to paint!

Then choose your paint colors!

Next, the shoes are placed on a chair, and painting begins. Masaya used the ‘flick’ technique! With latex gloves on, he dipped his fingers into some paint, and flicked it onto the shoes. To flick something means to give something a little throw. Not a large throw, just a little flick, with your fingers.
He ended up with this finished product!

Cool!
After painting, this video shows the tape being removed:
